Hi, I'm Joe. I'm a nutritional therapist and a BANT Registered nutritionist. Nutritional therapy is an evidence based holistic therapy. We dive into biochemistry, and then use nutrition and lifestyle medicine to support the pathways involved in the symptoms, and in this case, the symptoms of ADHD. So what I'm hoping is, this course will give you the tools and the knowledge that will be able to support your bodies to be the best versions of yourself. I'm hoping you'll find lots of this information useful, and hopefully really applicable to you. Please feel free to, to try things, see how you feel, but please don't change any medications without speaking to your medical professional, this is not a specific medical advice for you. If you want to work with a nutritional therapist to get in more depth for some of the information we're talking about, that's great, but, but yeah, don't, don't change any medications without discussing it with your, with your doctor first. So why are we talking about food? That's what I do we talking about food for your body. How is that going to help you with your ADHD? Well, there's a lot of, a lot of messages in the media, lots of talking about food, and it's often calories, carbs, fats, unhelpful labels, more helpful labels. But we kind of sometimes lost sight of what the foods actually doing, the food is there to provide us with the building blocks that our body needs to do what it needs to do. So we have carbs, which are useful for energy, yes, but we have things called essential fats, and we have essential proteins and amino acids, and then we also have our vitamins and minerals, which are also essential for our bodies. And the reason they are essential is that our bodies can't make them, they're needed, but we can't make them ourselves, so we have to ingest them, we have to eat them in our diets. So when we're going through the rest of the course, and I'm kind of talking about nourishing and thinking about nourishing our bodies, that's kind of what I'm talking about. I'm talking about these essential things that we need that our body needs to function and that's what really nourishes us. We might nourish our soul now and again with some amazing chocolate cake, and fudge brownies, or birthday cake. And that's great and absolutely very important too, but we need to also think about the majority of the time, eating all the other things that our body needs to be able to function. So I hope that kind of makes sense, next episode, we're going to dive into some of the, some of the underlying mechanisms that are involved in ADHD, and then from then, we can then look at specific ways that we can support those mechanisms to really, really help support you. So speak to you soon.
